Synchronicity or coincidence?
The magic of synchronicity is in the unexpected nature of it. It comes when you least expect it, sometimes right when you need it the most, and always as a way to support or lead you in a particular direction.
In this blog, I'll share with you some blessings I've experienced that have come in the form of thoughts (that often sound like my own but feel different), observation, and things placed in my awareness that gave me a sense of confidence in those thoughts that happened at the beginning. I'll also share with you some tips on how to begin to notice these synchronicities in your own life as well as how to know the difference between “coincidences” and divine guidance/synchronicities that have meaning.
It begins with a Thoth….
The Ancient Egyptians loved a good pun and this is one of my favorites :) Thoth is the God of thoughts, philosophy and wisdom who began to come into my awareness as I was putting things together for my new Egyptian Mystery School on Patreon. I like to plan ahead and feel into what to share and highlight, not only for the EMS but also with courses to teach, etc, and I felt that Thoth would be a great choice to go with the ancient text I had chosen for that month, too! Having the synchronicity there felt really good and balanced and full and I enjoyed the ease and flow of the way the month’s material was coming together.
Part of the program offering is a guided meditation with Dee Kennedy while I play the harp. My harp is kept in my dining room in front of my altar and sometimes when I walk past it I’ll feel a pull to play and begin working with the name of the neteru for the music. I sat down with Thoth that morning and enjoyed working with his name and the music as if he were sitting right there with me, reading me the notes he had written on his scroll. Once I finished and listened to it (because listening feels so much different from the playing of it) I sent it off to Dee to record her portion.
The next day, I prepared some of the supplemental material for Thoth and sat down to take a short lunch break. Often I’ll pop on the tv for something to watch while I eat and I chose a program that was highlighting some discoveries in Saqqara.
Saqqara is an ancient necropolis filled with so much to be discovered under its sands and they had discovered a tomb in which there was a large stone sarcophagus that they were going to be opening LIVE! on the program. So I’m there, on my couch, having just recorded the song for Thoth and guess whose tomb they discovered? A family tomb with not only a priest of Thoth who was a singer, but also a high priest of Thoth who had the inscription on his sarcophagus that read, “Priest of Thoth, Great One of the Five”.
Seriously!!!!?? Of ALL the tombs they could have discovered, this one was specific to Thoth!
In tune with the music
I’m really loving this little nudge of support from Thoth while having my lunch when I got a text from Dee that she had just recorded the meditation with Thoth and was sending it over. I was excited and shared with her the synchronicity of her timing as I was watching the discovery of a tomb of singers and high priests of Thoth just then. Dee was also at that time working with Thoth and his lunar aspect and later sent me a text that she had been listening to the audio lesson I shared on Thoth as she was heading to give a presentation/meditation circle with Thoth and the moon!
While it may seem random and “out there”, these kinds of experiences are the acknowledgement from the neteru/Universe that I am on the right path, that they are guiding me, to continue to trust and surrender and lean into the journey I’m on presently as well as all that lies ahead.

Thoths (Thoughts) on coincidental signs and synchronicity
There are differences between coincidental signs and synchronicity that can be found in how our minds work and our evolution as humans. In order for our species to have survived all these thousands of years, our brains are wired to remember things of significance or importance and to seek out these things that bring us validation or confidence. When we see “signs” these give us confidence in our path and decisions but they can also be a little confusing. Often when I give a reading, people will share with me how confused they are because they are seeing signs that seem to be supporting conflicting ideas. They want clarity on which “sign” is “correct” and they want to know what to do.
Here’s an example of a coincidental sign:
Many times, these are the things that are random events but with no seeming connection to you and what is happening in your life. Let’s say you have a dream in which there is a waterfall and a fisherman at the bottom then later that day you go to lunch with a friend and see a picture in the restaurant of a waterfall with a small boat at the bottom. Seeing the waterfall is not something that is particularly meaningful to you…you just happen to remember the waterfall from a dream you had the night before and your brain has been wired now to notice waterfalls around you. This is what is known as a “confirmation bias”….your brain actively seeks out the Thing, whatever it is, and attaches to it a deeper meaning that is there.
Here’s an example of synchronicity:
The example of the waterfall dream could be synchronistic if you had been thinking about whether or not to take a vacation to see Niagara Falls, had been looking into dates to go and where to stay. You’ve actively been asking your Guides/Angels/Universe for answers on whether or not you should go. The dream could then be your brain processing this adventure and the picture in the restaurant could then be seen as a “Yes” from the Universe, to “go to Niagara Falls! It will be good for you!” This nudge from the Universe can also take place because your brain is wired to seek out these validations. This doesn’t take away from the magic of this sign….it adds to it! How amazing is our brain to look for things when we’re not even paying attention but having lunch with a friend!
In my example above, I sat down to watch a program on Ancient Egypt and discoveries being made and the Thing within that program was very specifically Thoth, his priests, and a title of “Great of the Five”. The synchronicity of this comes from it being very specific, and unsought, meaning I didn’t look for a program or presentation on Thoth to watch, I chose something in my general field of interest. They could have very easily discovered a new avenue of sphinxes or a new statue of Nefertiti or an empty tomb filled with only rubble from the raided coffins. But this was very specific….Thoth and his priests were discovered. This was a spontaneous synchronicity and sweet support from Thoth :)
Using Thoth to create from your own magical cauldron
Now….let’s create some magic in your life using this amazing ability of your brain to find the thing you’re seeking and invite Thoth for support, too!!
In the ancient stories of Thoth, he is a creator god who pulls 8 Beings from the waters of his cauldron that embody principles of masculinity and femininity, as well as elements of nature such as the air, water, darkness and moisture. In other stories, Thoth is a scribe of the Gods who writes down all the things we’ve said and done in our life at the Weighing of the Heart.
Using this concept, we can manifest using Thoth’s wisdom, his ability to write things down, and to then see our path clearly as we train our brain to find what we’re looking for. For this exercise, I’m going to use the example of finding a new place to live.
Write down all of your ideas on where you’d like to live….by a stream, in a condo, in a neighborhood on the West Side
Look at all of these and highlight the ones of greatest importance to you, such as living by a stream
On a new sheet of paper, write more details on this place, such as what the house will look like or how many acres there will be, etc. On the top of the page write the Rumi quote, “What I seek is seeking me”
Put this paper where you can see it each day and perhaps meditate on what this would look like and feel like to live here
These exercises above train your brain to look for these things….meaning you’ll see ads for a home by the stream more easily, you’ll tell a friend of your wishes and they’ll know someone who is selling their home by a stream, you’ll drive by a home by a stream and quickly notice the “For Sale” sign in the yard.
If this worked for me, it can work for you, too!
A few years ago I was living in an apartment and was ready to move to another side of town to something newer and bigger. I started noticing apartment complexes on that side of town, began to feel into what it would be like to pull into this “home” and even stopped to look at a few places. I found one I really liked and got all the paperwork for it to begin making it happen but….when I was pulling out a voice inside said to me,
“Don’t settle for an apartment….find a house!!!! Where do you want to live?”
This was very unexpected, but I knew the town I wanted to live in right away. I drove to that town to stop in and ask a girlfriend who owns a clothing boutique if she knew of any houses for rent and she directed me to the house I’m in now! I drove there, called the number, looked at the house the next day and then signed the lease!!!
Yes, there were some things I had to DO, like drive around, ask questions, open my eyes and ears and make some calls but this was a divinely guided experience and although it’s not my farm, it’s a wonderful place to be until I can be there again.
May you manifest, train your brain to seek out what you’re looking for, know that it’s looking for you, too and as always, enjoy everything about today!!!
